A driving passion

Like most Skyline owners, Gary has been passionate about high performance cars for a long time. Having worked on racing engines and race development programs with the some of the top tuning companies such as Janspeed Engineering, Swaymar Race Engines, Allard Turbos and Turbo Technics, he branched out on his own in 1985 and quickly established himself as an accomplished race engine specialist. In fact, he came across some of the very first Skyline R32 GTRs which first landed in the UK as private imports, and carried out initial tuning and conversions on them on behalf of Janspeed. Quite a few of the original Janspeed GTRs are still going strong today and we continue to develop the potential of these cars.

The early days

Whilst working as an authorised Janspeed Engineering dealer, Gary gained valuable experience installing after-market turbo kits, using a rolling-road dyno to optimise performance and "fine-tune" the engines of these thoroughbred beasties. He became interested in motor sports and prepared a number of entries for Auto Cross grass, Super Rally Cross, Production Saloon Tarmac and MG Maestro Challenge Tarmac.

Learning curve

The experiences gained from motor sports and high performance engine tuning led Gary to concentrate on fitting and adapting Engine Management Systems to a various number of different makes of cars. He believes that an Engine Management System should be easy to fit, reliable and provide improved engine performance and fuel consumption.

Project Beast

In the last few years Gary had been involved in a venture "To prepare a high profile, highly modified R33 Nissan Skyline for road and race use, utilising the best proven parts available to achieve the maximum usable performance whilst keeping within the confines of road legality."

The present

We continue to develop and refine Skyline engines as one of the leading tuning specialists in the UK. Our skills place us in the top positions time and time again with reliable performances from the cars we have developed.

The Sumo HKS R34 which has recently won at Santa Pod, has also produced a 0-60 time of 2.91 seconds.

The list of Gary's achievements over the years as a specialist in high power engines continues to grow. Even from the early days he was gaining recognition as an extremely talented race engineer, with many editorial features in Nationally recognised magazines.

Today the list is still expanding and the records continue to fall, although it is often the race engineer who is overlooked. Quite often the focus of attention is centered around the car or the owner, but behind every car is the race engineer.

More often than not, that race engineer is Gary Passingham.
